JOB SUMMARY:
GRI is currently seeking Gender Advisors for the anticipated DFID-funded “Unleashing Business for Shared Prosperity in Burma.” The program will aim to improve economic opportunities for poor people in Burma by unleashing the potential of business. It will aim to help business to be more inclusive, dynamic, and innovative.
We are seeking Gender Specialists for long- and short-term roles with experience in the following areas:
· Reforming investment policy to increase opportunities for women doing business.
· Promoting gender equitable business practices.
· Addressing legal, regulatory, policy, and institutional constraints to women’s inclusion in the financial sector.
· Assisting women-owned businesses to realize trade potential.
· Supporting job creation for women in key value chains.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
· Masters in economic development, gender studies, or similar required.
· Ten (10) years experience developing and managing financial reforms that create economic opportunities for women; 15 years preferred.
· Experience with making markets work for the poor (M4P) preferred.
· Prior experience in Burma preferred.
· Prior management experience preferred.
· Fluency in English required.
· Prior experience working on DFID programs preferred.
· Excellent management and administrative skills.
· High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, funders and policy makers
· Self-motivated and well organized.
· Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Flexibility and willingness to travel to difficult environments to complete program assignments.

Please not that this program is currently being planned by the donor. Work is not anticipated to begin until late 2015. Any position in contingent on funding.
